In a different direction (summer 2008)

Normally we tell you about the new churches we are planting and that continues…..we  have recently planted a new church in Barrio San Pedro in Medellin; and have helped start another church, with about 50 people already attending, in Tamesis, Antioquia in recent weeks.

The slant that is different however is that some of our new works are currently purchasing their own properties.  The daughter church (1.5 yrs old) of the central church in Manizales in Barrio Camilo Torres has recently purchased the building they are meeting in.  We are helping the new church in Pajarito, (Medellin, also 1.5 yrs old) to purchase their property.  That is the section of Medellin where they are building 17,000 new apartments for 85,000 persons.  Many apartments are already built, five thousand more are ready to be occupied now and many more are under construction.  Also our church on 80th Avenue (one of the main avenues of Medellin), that we helped start about 7 years ago is now negotiating to purchase their property as well.

Our current Bible School property in Bucaramanaga may be traded for a property twice as large, near the largest University in the city. (Please pray for GOD’s will and direction concerning this).

Another important prayer request concerns the Church Planting Seminar we have scheduled for the first week in December in Manizales, Caldas; it will be a District wide event.  Please pray that God will move on the hearts of workers giving them a burden to plant churches and prepare them by attending these training sessions.

We thank you so much for standing with us in developing these important ministries!

May God bless you richly.

Last week, we traveled by “lancha” (an 18-20 ft boat with an outboard motor) on the Pacific to Jurado, Choco.  It took us 2.5 hours each way.  We are attempting to purchase a property for the church there.  Choco is one of the most under-developed areas of Colombia, that the modern world is about to break into.  There are plans for a deep water port (deepest on the Pacific) at Nuqui, Choco, and an inter-ocean canal at Jurado, Choco, similar to the Panama Canal.  The gospel needs to be preached there!

Your prayers have been answered for a pastor for the new church at Tamesis, Antioquia.  His name is Robinson Angel and his wife, Helmy.  We are so thankful for this blessing and for the meeting place the Lord is providing for the work.

We have been holding Seminars in different churches teaching on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, Stewardship, and Assimilation of new believers into churches.  The Seminar was conducted with leaders from several  Assembly of God churches, held at our Central church in Manizales, Caldas.  Other seminars have been held in Playa Rica, Barbosa, San Cristobal and Anserma.

Please continue to pray for these important  UPCOMING EVENTS we will be   sponsoring:

-Pastor’s Church Planting Seminar

-AIDS Seminars in Barranquilla, Armenia and Bogotá, with missionary trainers, Paul Duda,  Cynthia Nicholson, Patty Coad, and Wanda Talley.

Thank you again for your prayers and financial support!

Not just planting churches . . . it’s multiplication! (winter 2009)

We are in the ministry of planting churches and it is gratifying to see the number of churches that have been raised up during the years that we have been laboring in Colombia – we know that would not have been possible without faithful sponsoring churches –and individuals who love God’s work as we do.
After all these years, we are seeing another phenomenon. The churches that we have helped raise up are starting DAUGHTER CHURCHES. Recently my wife Aldonna ministered in the church at Piedecuesta (Bucaramanga), a church now of a thousand in attendance and that has birthed eighteen daughter churches. Note as well Pastor Nelso Medina who I visited in the middle of the construction of their new church that will seat 800. They are not only building, but are getting ready to start their seventh daughter church.
These are not the only ones, there are many other churches also that we have helped start, doing multiple church plants and becoming involved in the vision of extending Christ’s Church!
There are other aspects of multiplication process too—fellow missionary Larry Gruetzmacher recently taught the first level class of our NINTH church planting “Boot Camp”, training workers to raise up new churches.
I am also currently MENTORING several local pastors in advanced techniques of church planting and growth. The church is multiplying because of people like you!

God bless you richly!

Noting…progress (spring 2008)

In November we sponsored two Church Planting Seminars, (see pictures) one in Cali (4 million pop.) and another in Medellin (4 million pop.) with about 110 pastors and workers attending. Projecting VISION is one of our goals!

Four of our new churches, San Cristobal, Villa Hermosa, Zamora and Marinilla have rented larger facilities. (we have done a lot of remodeling lately) Two other churches we have helped initiate are in the process of purchasing properties and the church in Piedecuesta, Santander is completing the testing phase of their TV station.
Aldonna and I helped with the medical team and MAPS building teams from Ocala, FL that our co-workers Kevin and Cindy Elder sponsored for the New Medellin Bible School, (see pictures). Aldonna also participated with the Medical Team hosted by Steve and Judy Graner in Santa Marta, Colombia and sponsored by First Assembly of God in Bakersfield, California. Over 2000 people were ministered to during the medical brigade.

We now have requests for more Church Planting Seminars. Pray with us that God will supply the means for these opportunities.

Your missionaries,

Theron & Aldonna Roush
